An Italian diamond in the rough!

Hey you, yeah you! Listen here, this blog is all about one of my favorite places to eat in all of Youngstown. Nicolinni's is what I like to call the Italian diamond in the rough. You and I both know that Youngstown has an unpolished image and us here at Youngstown Foodies are here to show that even the roughest spots can serve up a mean dish. If you're looking for a little piece of Italy, you wont have to travel to far. Scroll down to see me dive on into this Youngstown favorite.

Atmosphere:
Let's start with this places atmosphere. Walking into Nicolinni's you are greeted by vaulted ceiling with beautiful marble throughout. Walking though the restaurants many arches gives you the feeling of being in Roma itself. Pictured above is the restaurants side dinning room and bar. This portion of the restaurant gives patrons the feel of a quint yet upscale Italian cafe. If you were to look above you, many of the rooms have fencing with grape leaves through out them, giving you the feel of being somewhere much more exotic than Youngstown. The furniture is of high quality as you can tell from the solid wood bar stools, adorned with red leather seats. The linen at the restaurant is also of fine quality, making the difference between them and other local Italian eateries. My favorite thing about Nicolinni's is the wait staff, truly top notch professionals with a "can do" attitude.

The Food:
Alright I know this is the part you have been waiting for, the food review. I tend to go here for dinner so allow me to direct you to Nicolinni's dinner menu if you'd like. First off this menu has just about everything you could ask for at an Italian restaurant. My favorite is the eggplant parmigiana, talk about an eggplant so good you'll want to kiss the chef. Perhaps the vegetarian option is not for you, then I strongly recommend the chicken parmigiana. Add a side of their spaghetti and you'll be pleased. TripAdvisor gives Nicolinni's a 4.5 rating thanks in part to its fantastic food. You can see the quality of the food by simply looking at the seasonings in the red sauce or by the breading and cheese on the chicken. I have never had a bad meal here, the white sauce is just as good as the red.

Recap:
If you're looking for that place to wow a date or perhaps just have a good meal, I strongly recommend Nicolinni's. The atmosphere will have you daydreaming of Italy as you sway to the sounds of
crooners such as Frank Sinatra. The price is fair when compared to other Italian restaurants in the area, with the added bonus of the great quality of the food. So perhaps grab a drink and relax. Have a good time in this Italian diamond in the rough, and treat yourself to a piece of their cheesecake, you've earned it!
Until next times, yours truly- Jacob Ordak
